**CLARIFICATION ON HOSEPIPE BAN AND THE ALLOTMENTS**
See below for the RAA Allotment Rules in relation water use.
5. Water/Hoses/Fires
5.1. The Tenant shall pay such reasonable sum as may be demanded for the cost
of water use, which will be incorporated with the annual allotment rental.
5.2. The Tenant shall practice sensible water conservation, utilise covered water
butts on sheds and other buildings and consider mulching as a water
conservation practice.
5.3. The Tenant shall have consideration at all times for other tenants when
extracting water from water points. No hoses are to be used at any time for
irrigation purposes, hoses can be used to fill water butts.
Under the Allotment Rules, tenants are not permitted to directly water plots with a hosepipe. Therefore, hosepipes will not be permitted on allotment sites during the ban, despite Yorkshire Water allowing the watering of crops. It is recommended that water is harvested before the ban comes into force.
The RAA rules are the base rules for all sites. If you are on a society-managed site, please adhere to the additional society rules on hosepipe use as some ban them altogether.
See https://www.nsalg.org.uk/…/09/A5_Water_260213_HiRes.pdf for NAS advice on water use.
Anyone found using a hosepipe during the ban may be subject to a £1000 fine.
Thank you for your co-operation.
