Yorkshire Water have announced a hosepipe ban starting 26th August 2022. We have been in contact with our regional representative at the National Allotment Society and have been advised that they are working with the water companies to try and guarantee that allotments are exempt. Unfortunately, Southern Water, who have a current hosepipe ban, stated initially allotments were exempt, but now have done a u-turn and allotments are not exempt from the ban in the area they cover.

There is a good chance that allotments won’t be exempt as they are non-commercial. Anyone found using a hosepipe during the ban faces a £1000 fine. Please try to harvest as much water as possible – when we do have some rain!
